The name Francesco Moser needs little introduction to anyone familiar with the history of road cycling. He was very aware early in his career of his position as a prominent Italian professional and the commercial opportunities that afforded him. He subsequently did what Eddy Merckx, compatriot Giovanni Battaglin and many other successful riders have done since and built a brand around his name. This frame is a fine example of the Moser brand featuring lovely Moser pantographs on the fork crown, seat stay tope eyes, head lugs and a slightly unwieldy one on the seat lug. The forks are fully chromed along with the drive side seat stay and dropout faces and this is still in super condition. The condition of the paintwork is excellent and this era Moser actually featured painted on down tube and seat tube logos instead of the usual decals. Almost all of the groupset comes from Gipiemme and all parts are in fabulous condition. The 'Crono Sprint' is essentially a group of components rebadged from a variety of manufacturers such as Simplex and Modolo but the chainset and front mech are I believe specific to that group only. The 3ttt stem and outer Gipiemme chairing have been beautifully pantographed but probably the highlight of the whole bike for us are the wonderful Gipiemme 'Crono Sprint' pedals! Overall this Moser is a fabulous bike and it rides as good as it looks. It goes quick, it stops quick, it feels quick and it looks quick. If you want an Italian road bike to enjoy on a Sunday ride this is a very good choice.
