Carlton Longfellow 25" Road Bike Reynolds 531 1964
The Carlton Longfellow was the model for the taller rider. The 1964 Carlton catalogue states that it uses a special version of Reynolds 531 Tubing presumably of a thicker gauge. It is in lovely original condition with excellent paint and quality components. There are a few marks and there is one small dent on the top tube, but overall its aged fantastically. The frame features the famous Carlton 'Capella' lugset which are wonderfully proportioned and exquisitely finished. The chrome on the chainset, headset and bottom bracket is excellent and the Cyclo Benelux components are in very good order. The GB stem and handlebars are super clean along with the original Carlton hoods. Rims are courtesy of Dunlop and their famous Special Lightweights are laced to extremely rare Resilion high flange hubs with domed axle nuts. Press down on the Lyotard pedals and you can feel the quality of this machine. Despite its size it’s very sturdy and extremely stable at speed. The Brooks B15 saddle is as comfortable as always and out on the road it has a remarkable stately ride quality. In short it’s one lovely original machine and if you are long in the leg will make a fine Eroica machine.
